Meet Alex Brewer

ALEX TELLS US WHY SHE’S STANDING TO BE THE NEXT MP FOR NORTH EAST HAMPSHIRE

We sat down with Alex at her home in Fleet to find out more about her and why she wants to be your next MP. “I have always loved this part of Hampshire,” she says. “For me, North East Hampshire is much more than just a place to live and work. Like many people here, I have established strong roots via local schools and enjoy a strong sense of community. I feel very fortunate to live in such a fantastic part of the country.”

Having worked in the charity sector for nearly a decade, however, Alex has seen first-hand the impact on our key services of chronic under- funding. “People who need help the most are already struggling while the Government continues to reduce resources, making it harder for them to access support” she says.

Listening to Alex speaking it is clear that she is passionate about representing local people.

“I strongly believe that our home needs an MP who can represent the interests of everyone, regardless of their background, living circumstances or political stance. Someone with real life experience outside of politics. The more | talk to local people, the more I feel we share values that go far beyond party politics. We value the NHS, protection of our environment and the sense of community that helps each other through this prolonged cost of living crisis. I want to be your MP so that I can make a difference and bring about positive change.”

Alex has lived and worked in Japan, Germany and Australia, giving her a broad experience she believes will benefit her as an MP. “I have worked in both the commercial and charity sectors, giving me an understanding of what matters to both individuals and businesses” she says. “| strongly believe that this combination of perspectives and lived experience will provide our local area with an MP who is best placed to represent everyones concerns and needs."

Alex is committed to using her real- life experiences to inform the way she represents our community. She has seen, through her work running a local children’s charity, the impact on families of under-funding of vital children’s services, our NHS, good quality childcare and education. Prior to her current role Alex worked for a charity that provided a refuge and helpline for victims of domestic abuse. This has given her a unique insight into changes needed to the criminal justice system to better protect those affected..

“From my conversations with local residents, it’s clear many life-long Conservative voters who placed their trust in our current Government are feeling angry and taken for granted. People tell me that they want a hard working, visible local MP. If elected, I can promise that is exactly what I will be."
