Sewage in our local rivers, uncertain water supply, rising costs yet poorer service

Lib Dems are campaigning for reform of the water industry, much of which is now owned by big foreign investors, and to stop the dumping of sewage in our rivers.

Alarmingly, in 2022 one of the sewer storm overflows in Hartley Wintney spilled 30 times, for a total of 306.39 hours, discharging into our local river, the Hart. Figures come from The River Trust's Sewer Map We are waiting for the 2023 total figures.

LibDems believe that water companies should be changed to Public Benefit Companies, required to meet strict environmental standards before shareholders are paid dividends.

Add your voice to the campaign by signing our petition - we deserve clean rivers.
