The story behind the pictures

Eclectic is the word used to describe a new MP's day at the Autumn Lib Dem Conference.  NE Hampshire's Alex Brewer went through this rite of passage at the Brighton Conference in September.  During one day there she met with a deputy ambassador, attended a talk by a local CAMRA champion, and sandwiched a little excursion on the water in the middle.  Our own Tony Baines was there on the beach to take up the story:

Alex Brewer, and a group of fellow female Lib Dem MPs went out on the sea off Brighton beach to promote Women in Sport, a charity dedicated to increasing female participation in sports across the spectrum. Alex was lucky enough to share a canoe with Roz Savage, newly elected MP for South Cotswolds, who has rowed across 3 oceans single handed. That's very good company!

These Conferences are not just about political speeches but also the conversations and contacts made with important businesses, ambassadors and charities behind the scenes.

And the result?  Well, these events are about winning for of the charity they are promoting, but sport would not be the same without an element of competition, so let's just say that the 4th July wasn't the only time this year that Alex has proved herself to be someone who can deliver for the team.
