Lib Dem councillors push back against Firgrove Farm development

Hart's Lib Dem councillors have taken the fight over Firgrove Farm to the Government.

At a Development Management Committee meeting, they led the case against plans for 300 homes at Firgrove Farm, between Yateley and Eversley, arguing that the development is inappropriate and unsustainable.

“We had plenty of objections to the site, but we focused on the harm to local heritage, because that's the argument most likely to cut through with the Government and its inspectors." Cllr Richard Quarterman 

Recent changes to planning law by the Government have made it harder for local councillors to control large developments. But after a lengthy debate, our councillors persuaded the committee to refer the application to the Secretary of State.

The Government now has a matter of weeks to decide whether it accepts our arguments.
